Goosegrass in Legume Vegetable Plantings
Return to weeds
Goosegrass (Eleusine indica) is a summer annual often mistaken for large crabgrass, but goosegrass germinates when temperatures increase, usually in mid-summer. Goosegrass leaves are smooth and plants are silvery green in the center. Plants grow in a circular to bunchy arrangement, often in dry, compacted soils.

Management:
- Competitive crops often smother out goosegrass.
- Use herbicides specific for grassy weeds.
- Tillage during summer months is effective.
